Mike Crawford is an automation specialist with 15 years experience in the water and wastewater, food and beverage and renewable energies markets. Mike was introduced to SCADA in the late 1990’s and has developed and managed SCADA projects for municipalities, contractors and engineering firms across Canada and the United States of America. Mike has been involved in SCADA systems design, programming (PLC and HMI), data management systems, communications and project management. Mike’s experience also includes the design and implementation of expert systems and solutions including neural networks, work flow applications and compliance data integrity systems. Leveraging field experience and lessons learned, Mike was involved in the development of SCADA standards for municipalities and corporations, and is actively involved in the development of tools and software for SCADA standards management, compliance and enforcement.
Mike started his career in engineering in Ontario, Canada, and continued with design build projects in the southern USA. In central Florida, Mike was involved in the upgrades of several wastewater treatment and reclamation projects. Mike continued implementing SCADA projects on the west coast and into Louisiana. Mike returned to Ontario, Canada in the mid 2000’s and expanded his experience working with electrical and SCADA contractors and engineering firms on municipal water and wastewater, food and beverage and solar and wind projects. Mike currently works for Haldimand County as the SCADA Coordinator in the engineering services division providing master planning, SCADA standards development and management, and the management of engineering and contractor works. Mike is also a senior partner of a SCADA engineering firm in Hamilton, Ontario that provides electrical, process optimization and SCADA development services for municipal and corporate clients in Canada and the USA.
